Day three of this year’s Summer League featured the first of two of the most anticipated games of the competition: Philadelphia 76ers vs Boston Celtics.

The game, played in Utah, ended 89-88 in favour of the Celtics, who were boosted to victory by the great performances of three of its players: Jaylen Brown (Class of 2016, 3rd pick) put up 29 points and 13 rebounds in 30 minutes of game time, while Abdel Nader (Class of 2017, 58th pick) impressed with 13 points and 7 rebounds. The man of the match though was 2017 3rd pick Jayson Tatum who lit up the competition with a statline of 21p/7r/3a/5s while shooting 47.3% from the court. He also hit the go-ahead jumper with just over 5 seconds remaining on the clock to put the Celtics up by one point.

Philadelphia put up a good fight nonetheless, with top pick Markelle Fultz leading the team with 17 points (2/5 3pt) accompanied by three blocks. The most impressive statline of the game for Philly goes to sophomore Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, who put up 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

The 76ers, who at one point lead the game by 15 points, will have their chance to avenge the loss on July 11th in Las Vegas, when they’ll meet the Celtics for a second time in the Summer League’s last day of play.

Today the Hornets (2-0) will try to stay unbeaten when they play the Thunders (1-1) at 1PM, one team between the Pacers (2-0) and the Mavericks (3-0) will lose its unbeaten status when they square off at 3PM and the Pistons (0-3) will play for their first victory against the Heat (1-1) at 5PM – all times are ET.
